FAO to host Federation Cup Football Tournamet from May 7

Football Association of Odisha (FAO) will play host to the All-India Federation Cup Tournament at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack from May 7 to 21, 2017 with the support of Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha.

The decision to allot Federation Cup to Odisha was taken in the 1st Executive Committee meeting of All India Football Federation (AIFF) at Football House in New Delhi today. FAO secretary Sanjay Behera attended the meeting as a new executive committee member. The top eight teams of the I-League 2017 will be participating in this prestigious tournament.

According to the FAO secretary all the matches will be played under floodlights. ``Reputed clubs such as Mohun Bagan, East Bengal (both Kolkata), Shillong Lajong FC (Meghalaya), Churchill Brothers (Goa), Aizwal FC (Aizwal), Bengaluru FC (Bengaluru) are most likely to join the Federation Cup,’’ informed Behera.

The AIFF also constituted different sub-committees on the occasion. FAO secretary Sanjay Behera was also nominated as Deputy Chairman of the AIFF Women’s Football Committee, while FAO joint-secretary Avijit Pal was included in the AIFF Competitions Committee as member.
